YouTube Resources!

Hi! My name is Gabriella Trama, and I am the Pre-Dental Chair and the Resource Chair for MFPA. Like many of you, I have grown up watching YouTube. From tech reviews, to mukbangs, to makeup tutorials, there’s a YouTube video for everything.

When it comes to pre-health, YouTube can be a great resource. Of course, channels like Khan Academy, Crash Course, and The Organic Chemistry Tutor are fantastic for academic supplementation; however, there exist smaller YouTube channels that give great advice for pre-health students. I am going to highlight a few of my favorites…

MedBros

Siblings Shaman, Harman, and Punneet are medical students who make videos about everything from studying techniques, interview tips, and current events in the medical world. In addition to sit-down videos, they frequently post vlogs featuring their daily rotations or study schedule. I found this channel a few years ago and I think they produce approachable, encouraging content. Of course, Shaman, Harman, and Punneet are uber-intelligent, but they are also so funny, honest, and relatable.

Here are some of my favorite videos:

Kaur Beauty

This is Punneet’s (from MedBros) personal channel. While not pre-health specific, Punneet has a nice variety of content that displays the importance and merit of a balanced lifestyle. Puneet describes herself as a makeup artist and medical student based in Northern California. Her channel regularly features content regarding makeup, lifestyle, fashion, and medicine. Despite its concentration on non-health subjects, I think this channel is especially helpful due to Punneet’s transparency regarding anxiety and mental health.

Here are some of my favorite videos:

Future DDS

As I mentioned, I am a pre-dental student, so I have to show the pre-dents some love. My favorite pre-dental YouTube channel is FutureDDS. Tyler and Tyrell are Tufts University dental students who have created a community “in which pre-dental students and current dental students can openly communicate in a non-judgemental safe-space to help one another”. They make videos about the DAT, interview prep, and showing what dental school is like through various perspectives. (Also, their Instagram, @_futuredds, regularly features bios of dental students at various schools around the country and even globally).

I hope you enjoyed this first blog post! Stay tuned for more resources coming your way :)
